3 Steps for Practicing More Self-Love This Summer

While this probably isn’t the first time you have heard about the importance of good habits, you may not realize how good habits and self-love are intertwined. Cultivating the right habits makes it possible for you to do something without needing to utilize an extreme amount of mental effort.

Therefore, the more that practicing self-love becomes a habit for you, then the more likely that it will occur without you having to think about it. This is good news, considering self-love and gratitude are crucial to building the life of your dreams and the existence that you love. You will be able to step into your full potential and let your light shine.

To assist you in forming self-love habits and making this the best year yet, read on to learn about three steps for practicing more self-love this summer.

1. Create rituals and routines.

Self-love rituals and self-care routines don’t have to take up your whole day or drain your bank account. Instead, it could mean that you take 10 minutes every day to meditate or give yourself the opportunity to go through your morning coffee ritual each morning (before checking your work emails, and before your day immediately becomes hectic). It is going to look different for everyone.

Given that you have things you do every day, you want to take the time to brainstorm a few self-love rituals and routines that you can include in every day.

One easy example is being mindful when getting ready in the morning and applying your beauty products with intention and love. Another is creating a just-got-home ritual that provides for changing out of your work clothes, making a cup of peppermint tea, and taking a moment to relax and look back on the day’s events and lessons.

2. Show yourself that you care.

One of the main reasons self-love is touted as being a necessary practice is because it ensures that you are dedicating the time and space needed to show yourself that you care. After all, in today’s busy world, it can be challenging to find the time and energy to give yourself once you have handled all work, family and life commitments.

One of the best ways to show yourself that you care is to treat yourself to something as you would a close friend. For many people, this can be epitomized in a spa day at a beloved local beauty salon, as they can choose from a variety of beauty services and pampering sessions. While it is always fun to make a girl’s day out of it, consider going by yourself for your Guinot lifting facial treatment so that you can soak up some valuable solo time and reflect on how blessed you are.

3. Spend more time outdoors.

The days of summer offer more chances to spend time outdoors, whether that means taking an after-dinner walk or going on an extended camping holiday with loved ones. No matter where you find yourself on the “outdoorsy spectrum,” it is crucial that you spend some time in nature as it is proven to help maintain a healthy body and mind. In fact, it has been proven that nature decreases stress, makes you happier, relieves attention fatigue, increases creativity, and makes you feel more alive.

However, you don’t have to be summiting peaks or cooking in the wilderness to experience these benefits (although that would be wonderful!). You can start with making small changes, such as riding your bike to work, meeting a friend for a hike, reading outside during your lunch break, or taking the time to watch the sunrise or sunset.

Spending just 20 minutes outdoors can make a huge difference in your overall happiness and well-being, so look for ways to get a daily dose of nature throughout the summer.
